Prep table tennis team take second place in national tournament
The Prep under 11 table tennis team took part in the Butterfly National School Team Championship Finals in Leicestershire at the weekend, finishing a fantastic second place overall in this national competition.
The team competed against schools from across the country, including Barnes Primary School from Richmond upon Thames, Bramley Sunnyside Primary School in South Yorkshire and Southwater Junior Academy in West Sussex.
The team had a nervous start to the day’s proceedings, in their first match of the competition against Southwater Junior Academy, unfortunately losing 2-6. That however was the team’s only defeat of the day, with the team going from strength to strength as the day progressed. They beat Barnes primary School 5-3 and defeated Bramley Sunnyside Primary School 7-1, meaning they took home the second place spot.
Over 1500 schools in England took part in early stages of the competition, and so to finish in second place nationally is a fantastic achievement, and testament to all of the hard work put in by the team. Well done!
