Perse team storms to success in Schools’ Challenge
13 May 2015
Yesterday afternoon, our Junior Knowledge Team took part in the East Anglian regional semi-final of the Junior Schools’ Challenge general knowledge competition. The team, consisting of Vikram Singh (Captain), George Salisbury, Jude Burling, Rachel bentham, Edward Gaskarth and Henry Yates, played Norwich School, comfortably winning the match with a score of 910 points to 320.
This round was then immediately followed by the regional final in which the team defeated a strong Colchester Royal Grammar School side 990 points to their 470. This excellent result means the team now progresses to the inter-regional round against the champions of a neighbouring region, where their opponent will be announced in due course.
The team was quizzed on topics ranging from chemistry (‘bronze is an alloy of tin and which other metal?’), literature (‘what was the name of the Hunchback of Notre Dame?’) and geography (‘On which island of the Hawaiian group is Pearl Harbour?’).
