Pupils entertain audiences in charity cabaret
The Charity Cabaret took place on Saturday evening to a packed school hall, with many of the guests enjoying the authentic atmosphere created by a table ticket. This year our Upper Sixth comperes were Jack Brears and Asher Glinsman and they introduced the acts in slick, amusing and entertaining ways, also taking the audience through our successful annual raffle. Our prizes were an enormous fruit basket, concert tickets to the Wigmore Hall and an ‘evening experience’ consisting of dinner at the Chop House followed by tickets-for-two at the ADC.
The musical acts were as varied as ever: from Gershwin to Ed Sheeran, Amy Winehouse to Queen and all were presented with confidence and professionalism. Accompanying a number of the acts during the evening were the Big Band directed by Jon Halton and there was also a significant appearance of the Jazz Band (directed by Daphna Neu) and the Acappelicans directed by Ben Wingfield. The performance of “Uptown Funk” given by Soham De and Mary Honey (with special guest Old Persean Ademide Adenaike) virtually brought the house down in a frenzy of excitement. The annual appearance of the Senior Prefects certainly didn’t disappoint either; this year their dance medley contained everything from Titanic to Taylor Swift and was diligently and effectively choreographed.
Many thanks to all who were able to support this year, and we shortly hope to give further details as to the money raised by the event for our thoroughly-deserving charity Supporting Dalit Children.
