The Perse School

‘Our House’ meets ‘Rent’ for Perse Players

18 Mar 2015

20150317_171720_resizedYesterday The Perse was filled with the sound of show-tunes as the whole school drama company, the Perse Players, prepared for their performances of Our House at the ADC Theatre next week.

The cast surprised unsuspecting pupils in the library with a ‘flash mob’ performance of one of the numbers from the show, at lunchtime. The Perse Players were then lucky enough to receive a surprise visit from the cast of the CUADC production of the musical Rent, which is also currently on at the ADC. The CUADC is the Cambridge University Amateur Dramatic Club (the oldest student dramatic society in the country), and the resident company and owner of Cambridge’s ADC Theatre.

Both casts joined forces, playing games and doing warm-up exercises, which were followed by a Q&A session to share backstage secrets. Each cast then had the opportunity to perform extracts from the show in front of each other.

This was a fantastic afternoon for everyone involved, and no doubt a big confidence boost for the Perse Players’ cast. Performances of Our House take place on 24-26 March at the ADC Theatre. Details of how to book can be found on the ADC website. Be quick – the tickets have almost sold out!
