Perse team is right on target
On Thursday 12 February The Perse enjoyed success in the Area Final of the Bank of England Target 2.0 Competition.
The challenge involved a team of four sixth form students (Hannah Kirk (captain), Jack Kleeman, Alex Harris and Ciaran Flaherty) delivering a presentation on prospects for the UK economy before selecting the appropriate monetary policy response to the challenges facing the UK economy. This was followed by a selection of very tough questions from a panel of senior Bank of England economists. Up against stiff competition, the team coped admirably with the pressure and delivered an informative and professional performance.
The Perse team were crowned Area Champions and thus qualified for the National Finals on 20 March. The Finals will be held at the Bank of England and judged by the Deputy Governor of the Bank, two members of the Monetary Policy Committee and a leading economics journalist.
The winning team would like to thank all Perse parents who contributed to the recent survey. Once again, the data collected proved a key differentiator from the other schools’ presentations. Furthermore, the team would like to thank the outstanding research support from Jamie Doughty, Vedanth Nair, Mihir Chandraker and Renzhi Zhou, and expert advice from Mr Proud and Mr Butterfield.
