Perse student collects hundreds of books for charity
26 Feb 2015
Year 11 student, Henry Waugh, has been busy over the past year collecting hundreds of books for Cancer Research UK.
He collected around 560 unused and old books with help from the School librarians Janice Weatherall and Laura Alboni, donations from the Sports Department, as well as donating some of his own books too. Last year, Henry’s year group all worked together on a charity project to collect books to donate to Read International, and he decided to continue this project on his own this year, choosing Cancer Research as his chosen charity as it was an organisation the School has worked with frequently in the past.
The hundreds of books he collected are currently making their way to Cancer Research charity shops in the region, after Henry established a contact at the charity and organised collection of the books from the school library by one of its representatives.
Henry hopes to continue collecting books for charity next year when he is in the Sixth Form. Well done Henry!
