Celebrating sport at the Pelican
On Friday, the Pelican celebrated a record number of sporting achievements at their sports awards assembly. This term, sporting prowess has been achieved in tennis, gymnastics, golf, fencing, rugby, swimming, dance, ballet, tap, kung fu, football, archery and fencing.
The children welcomed Mr Lewis, an Old Persean and parent to two Pelican pupils, who came in to talk to the whole school about some of his recent running and cycling exploits to raise money for the MS Society. To date, he has completed three marathons and followed the famous tracks of Chris Froome all the way to the top of Mont Ventoux.
Mr Lewis is not stopping there as he plans to take part in an ultra-triathlon, consisting of two Iron Man competitions back-to-back, which he explained could take up to 36 hours to complete.
