Girls’ hockey team become county champions
The 1st XI girls’ hockey team competed in the Cambridge County Hockey Association Cup last week, where they took home the cup and became county champions.
The team won their group, gaining eight points from four matches, and then following a tense penalty stroke competition against Kimbolton School in the semi-final, the girls went on to beat King’s Peterborough 2-0 in the final, with Emily Page Blair and Lily Howlett scoring goals for The Perse.
The girls were deserving winners for their consistent and constructive team play throughout the day.
Head of Hockey at The Perse, Jon Peckett said: “The girls showed superb team spirit, commitment and a great level of performance throughout the six matches in the County Cup Tournament. They did particularly well to defeat Kimbolton in the penalty stoke competition and produce a very strong display of attacking hockey in the final against King’s Peterborough.”
The girls now progress to the regional round for the Eastern region, which will take place on Thursday 6 November at Redbridge.
Well done girls!
