The Perse School

Weekly sports report

2 Jul 2014

A fantastic year of sport at The Perse is winding down, and the penultimate week of the Summer term saw torrential rain and thunderstorms call off some of our sporting fixtures.

The 2nd XI cricket team’s match against guest teams from Xavier College in Melbourne, Australia was unfortunately rained off, leaving the game at 20 for 5 to The Perse, 105 all out to Xavier College. The 1st XI match against visitors from the MCC was also unfortunately rained off. However, our 1st XI team were pitted against our Old Perseans, winning their match 104 for 4, to their opposition’s 109 all out. Our U13A team rounded off an incredible season of girls’ cricket at The Perse, taking home 2nd place in the Cambridgeshire Inter Cricket Competition.

One of the highlights of the week was our Year 7 to 10 athletes who competed in the Jubilee Cup at the University of Cambridge’s Wilberforce Road ground, taking home first place, scoring 568 points. On this great day of athletics, many of our students achieved new personal bests, new school records and came in first place in many of their events.

Well done all!
