Year 7 host ‘epic’ charity sleepover

6 May 2014

Each Year 7 form group was given the difficult task of choosing a special charity to raise money for this year. After several weeks of brainstorming, research and careful thought, a democratic vote decided that 7R’s chosen charity would be Macmillan. Before Easter, Lewis Black and his fantastic team created an insightful sketch for a Year 7 assembly to demonstrate how funds can be utilised by Macmillan in order to support people with cancer.

On Friday 2 May, 7R hosted a fantastic fundraising event to raise money for this fantastic cause. Branded ‘7R’s epic sleepover’, pupils were invited to the Sixth Form Centre for an evening of fun and games, followed by an exciting sleepover (if they were lucky enough to secure a ticket to this part). To raise as much money as possible, each member of 7R took charge of hosting a particular activity, such as badminton, film showing, table football, darts and football. Vikram Singh proved himself to be the star of the evening in the ‘Vikram chase’ activity where pupils paid to take part in a quiz to see if they could outsmart him … and of course no-one could! Although Mr Whelan would say that he won …

The group was impeccably behaved and had a fabulous time – raising money and having fun!

The pupils did a fantastic job of raising a grand total of £250 for Macmillan.
