Perse teams qualify for national rocketry finals
This year two Perse teams have built rockets as part of the 2014 UK Rocketry Youth Challenge and have subsequently qualified for the finals. Over the past three months, the teams each consisting of five students from Years 8 to 10 have worked together to build and launch their own rocket design. The challenge this year is to launch two raw hens eggs in a rocket weighing less than 650g, to hit an altitude of 825ft in a journey time of 48-50 seconds.
The two teams will compete alongside the top 25 teams nationally in the finals which will take place at Charterhouse School, Surrey on 24 and 25 June.
UKAYRoC is the largest model rocket showcase in the UK with the top prize of competing in the International Fly-Off against the American, French and Japanese winning teams at the Farnborough International Air show 2014 and an all expenses paid aerospace trip to Paris and Toulouse.
