Perse pupils’ success in BBC Radio 2 ‘500 WORDS’ competition
We are pleased to announce that five Perse pupils have made it through to the next stage of BBC Radio 2’s 500 WORDS competition, where they were required to write a fictional story of no more than 500 words in length. This competition is open to all children aged 13 and under.
From the Upper, Benjamin Durkan and Matt Burson (both Year 8) secured their places in the second round, and Isabella Harvey, Ishbel Hallam and Isabel Painter are flying the flag for the Prep with their excellent entries.
It is an incredible feat to have five Perse pupils reach the next stage of the competition, given that the BBC received over 118,000 entries and their stories have been selected – with just 3,500 others – for the second round of judging.
Another shortlist of the top 50 entries will be announced in May – good luck everyone!
