Perse 1st VII netball team celebrates perfect season
1 Apr 2014
The Perse 1st VII netball squad is celebrating a perfect season in which they made both school and county history.
The team won all ten of their matches and took the U19 County title. The girls reached the semi-finals of the regional tournament – the best ever performance of any Cambridgeshire netball side.
Captain Millie Rose said:
“It has been an honour to captain such an incredible team. The enthusiasm, commitment and team spirit shown by everyone has made this a fantastic and extremely enjoyable season. Winning all our matches has been the perfect ending!”
Head of Girls’ Games at The Perse Laura Broderick congratulated the team on their performance:
“Most of these girls joined us in our first year of co-education, and it has been very rewarding to coach them to their full potential over the years. Their success this season has been a great inspiration to our younger netballers, who will be looking to break their record next year.”
The U16 team also competed in the regional finals, finishing fifth in their pool.
The achievements mark the end of a packed netball season at The Perse, with more than 20 teams at the Upper alone having taken part in more than 150 fixtures in total. As Laura Broderick explained:
“We’re proud of the very many opportunities our students have to play sport competitively, whatever their level, and the spirit in which they play.”
