Sixth formers perform French play, Topaze

Topaze by Marcel Pagnol (author of Jean de Florette and Manon des Sources) was performed entirely in French by Perse sixth formers last week.

Topaze tells the story of a young idealistic teacher, Topaze, who ends up being sacked from the boarding schoool where he was working for refusing to change the bad grade of one of his upper-class pupils. Following this distressing incident, he quickly learns that honesty does not pay. Quite the opposite in fact. Politics and finance become his new playground, he learns fast and quickly overtakes all competitors…

Congratulations to the cast and crew of Topaze for putting together this excellent show.
