Perse pupil secures second place in international piano competition
Year 8 pupil, George Harliono-Evans, recently jetted off to Chicago to take part in the International Young Artist Piano Concerto Competition, a global competition for pianists aged 20 and under.
It proved to be a very successful trip for George, and we are pleased to announce that he secured second place in the competition which took place in the 2,500 seat Chicago Symphony Center. George was the second youngest contestant in the competition, with many of his competitors much older than himself and hailing from renowned music colleges such as Julliard, Princeton and Hochschule fur Musik Franz Liszt in Weimar. His finale piece was Liszt’s Piano Concerto No.1, which was conducted by acclaimed conductor Francesco Millioto.
On the back of this outstanding achievement, he has already been invited back to perform a solo recital later this year.
Well done, George on this incredible success!
