Life is a cabaret
The annual Charity Cabaret took place on Saturday evening at the Upper School, and as in previous years was performed to a packed house of parents and pupils. Many of the parents had booked a table where they could enjoy the event in true Cabaret style!
It was again an action-packed evening, with three hours of performances given by pupil bands, solo singers, pop duos and the jazz band. Headlining the event was the Big Band, directed by Jon Halton, and a number of senior pupils performed solos with the band in accompaniment. Highlights included the much-anticipated Senior Prefects’ Dance (this year featuring novel routines to Americano and a Beyonce number) and a return from Old Persean Ademide Adenaike who joined forces with Soham De in a guitar, rap and beatboxing spectacular.
At the core of the event is our commitment to raise money for a charitable cause, and this year we were fundraising for Addenbrooke’s Charitable Trust, including Addenbrooke’s Abroad. Provisional figures show a donation total of just under £1,000, helped by the successful raffle which this year had a star prize of tea for two at the Ritz Hotel, which was generously donated by a member of the School community who wished to remain anonymous.
The evening was thoroughly enjoyed by all, and many thanks to all of those who donated to this fantastic cause.
