Beware the Jabberwocky!
Year 6 at the Prep have put on three excellent performances of Beware the Jabberwocky this week. Director of the play and Head of Drama at the Prep, Julia Morris, devised the play with fellow students of The Central School of Speech and Drama in London, back in 1999. Based on the Lewis Carroll poem, the play was first performed at The Minack Theatre in Cornwall; an outdoor theatre carved into the cliffs of the Cornish coast.
Jabberwocky is a play that explores the collaborative nature of theatre, both in its creation and in the way it should be performed. It draws on elements of choral speech, physical theatre and mask work, as well as including plenty of catchy music and energetic dance!
The children and staff of the Prep have worked together to create this fantastic performance, and thanks go to everyone for their support, both on and off stage.
