Success for The Perse in Pro Corda Chamber Music Festival
Yesterday The Perse was thrilled to host the qualifying round of the annual Pro Corda Chamber Music Festival. The competition is held in February and March every year, where schools across the country play host to the qualifying and regional semi-final rounds. This year’s final will take place at the Birmingham Conservatoire on Sunday 23 March. Following the final, the best groups are asked to perform in the Champions’ Concert which is traditionally held at the Wigmore Hall in London. In 2013 the School won the Pro Corda award ‘For Outstanding Contribution to Chamber Music Making’.
Twenty-three groups and over 70 pupils from the Upper took part in this prestigious competition yesterday, and we are pleased to announce that out of the 23 groups we entered, 15 of them have now reached the semi-finals of the competition, which will take place in the School on Wednesday 26 February.
An adjudicator at the event said of one of The Perse’s groups: ‘This was professional chamber music making from start to finish’.
This is a fantastic achievement and we wish all of the pupils involved the very best of luck in the next stages of the competition.
