Perse pupils have a busy week of music-making
Last week was a busy one for Perse musicians – and a lot of exciting music was made in the process!
Tuesday 28 January saw the second of this year’s Junior Ensemble Concerts, showcasing predominantly Year 7-10 groups, and Wind Band 2’s innate ability to get the audience involved in spontaneous choreography during a rendition of Y.M.C.A.! Well done to the 120 pupils involved for putting on another high-standard concert – more to come in the Summer Term.
The day after, the Allegri Quartet took time out of their busy international schedule to provide a workshop for our string groups in preparation for the Pro Corda competition. Last but not least, the school’s five jazz bands put on an impressive show in the annual Jazz Band Evening on Friday 31 January; relaxed and informal, the jazz bands’ renditions of standards such as Watermelon Man and Autumn Leaves were interspersed with original compositions by participating pupils – the perfect way to end a busy week!
