The Perse welcomes Mukonoso-Sogo Comprehensive High School
We were delighted to welcome pupils and staff from Mukonoso-Sogo Comprehensive High School near Kobe in Japan this week, who visited the School for a week of cultural exchange.
Our visitors and their home-stay families have had an exceptionally busy week, experiencing the delights of Cambridge and further afield.
After a long journey, 9 students from Japan arrived at the Perse last weekend to meet with their home-stay families and to spend the weekend getting to know their new surroundings.
Monday saw the pupils have a day filled with Cambridge tourist activities, taking in the sights including King’s College, Great St Mary’s tower and Sidney Sussex College. Their first day was rounded off with a traditional English tea party back at the Perse. Tuesday saw a visit to the Fitzwilliam Museum where they enjoyed amongst others, a famous Japanese exhibition. On Wednesday, the group visited London to see a West End show and to do a spot of shopping. Pupils have also got into the festive spirit, with our Japanese guests experiencing our annual Christmas Carol service at St John’s College chapel on Thursday evening, and also visiting the Mayor of Cambridge.
Perse students will also be travelling to Japan next Easter to visit their Japanese counterparts and the country’s cultural sites, something they are very much looking forward to!
This is the third year of the exchange, with both groups returning home with life-long memories.
