Perse pupils are World-Wise
Last week, two teams of Year 9 and 10 Perse pupils took part in the Cambridge Geographical Association’s World Wise Quiz against local schools.
We took 2 teams, a Perse A (Alex Darling, Hanif Nasser and Garret Shannon) and Perse B (Tim Harrison, James Tytko and William Young) team, a mixture of Y10 and Y9 students.
The quiz comprised five written rounds testing map skills, general knowledge and landmarks in Britain. After which the top three teams went through to three final oral question rounds. Every team member was put under timed pressure in front of the watching audience. Both our A and B team did superbly in making it into the top three where they were up against Sawston Village College, who had trained hard for this competition, and had edged out the Perse in the last two years. However, this year our A team pipped Sawston and our B team came 3rd.
This was a superb performance from both teams, who were particularly impressive in the oral rounds, showing remarkable composure under pressure.
