Leys no match for powerful Perse

Perse rugby teams triumphed in yesterday’s local derby against The Leys, notching up four wins out of seven matches. The first fifteen, on a roll in the NatWest Schools Cup and buoyed by their sixth round victory over Norwich this week, won 39-17. The second fifteen claimed an equally convincing victory with a final score of 33-17. The third XV had to settle for a draw (10-10).

While the U16A team narrowly missed out (20-22), the U16B team romped home with a 40-20 win. The U15As, also enjoying success in the NatWest Schools Cup, did not concede a single point to claim an amazing 36-0 victory. The U15Bs battled hard but were outclassed by a strong Leys side, losing 10-29.

This was a huge and hard-fought weekend of rugby to round off the term. The final whistle has not yet blown for the U15s who will face Trinity School, Croydon, in their NatWest Schools Cup sixth round clash this week.
