Pupil speaks at diabetes conference

3 Dec 2013

Year 7 pupil, John Hayward, gave a fantastic, inspirational speech at the East of England Paediatric Diabetes Network Conference yesterday. Adrian Sanders MP and representatives from both the Department of Education and local health authorities were in attendance at the event to launch guidance on dealing with diabetes in schools. John was asked to talk a little about himself, and explain what it is like to cope with diabetes at school. On account of how well John manages his diabetes, and due to the support he receives from staff at the Perse, he is a positive role model for both other children and other schools that support diabetic pupils. John is pictured below with Adrian Sanders MP and Magic – a ‘hypo’ dog that belongs to the diabetic specialist nurse from Addenbrooke’s Hospital.
