The Perse School

Sporting success at the Perse

8 Nov 2013

It has been a very busy few weeks of sport at the Perse, resulting in some fantastic success stories across a range of sports including hockey and netball.

Girls’ Hockey

Congratulations to Tess Howard in Year 10 who has been selected to attend an assessment camp for the England U16 girl’s hockey squad. Tess is one of 36 players to be invited to attend the camp following her performances at the recent regional tournament held during half term. The squad will have their first training session at the Lilleshall National Sports Centre later on this month.

Girls’ Netball

The start of the new half term saw The Perse 1st VII win the Cambridgeshire County U19 netball tournament for the very first time. They beat the Stephen Perse Foundation in the semi-final 8-5 and Hills Road Sixth Form College in the Final 6-5.

The Perse is the only school in Cambridgeshire to reach the regional stages of both the hockey and netball National Schools competitions.

The senior girls’ tennis team won the Cambridgeshire rounds, beating Hills Road Sixth Form College and the Stephen Perse Foundation, and have now qualified for the National Knockout Competition.
Well done to all involved in these outstanding achievements.
