Sixth Form Maths event
On Wednesday 6th November, Tony Gardiner – the main founder of the UK Mathematics Trust – came into the School to give an 80 minute seminar to the double mathematicians from Years 12 and 13. He led them through some challenging but fascinating maths relating to Pythagoras’ Theorem and spherical geometry. The students were thoroughly entertained and had a glimpse of life as a Maths undergraduate. During his visit, pupils were also thrilled to listen to Wednesday’s lunchtime ’42’ lecture given by Tony – an interesting look at why maths is the answer to life, the universe and everything, something thoroughly enjoyed by all.
