Senior school ensembles wow audiences at The Apex

Last night, senior school pupils held a concert in the Apex Performing Arts Centre in Bury St. Edmunds. Over 160 pupils took part in a showcase of talent involving the School’s senior ensembles. Highlights included Senior Symphony Orchestra’s frightening rendition of Mussorgsky’s Night on a Bare Mountain, while the Batman theme from Tim Burton’s film, played by Wind Band 1, rang out through the space. A performance of a Mendelssohn Piano Trio movement contrasted nicely with Big Band’s Attack of the Killer Tomatoes, a cartoon inspired piece.

As with last year’s showcase concert at St. Johns, Smith Square, this was a great display of our pupils’ talent – and a great chance to try out an exciting new acoustic a stone’s throw from Cambridge. We hope to use the venue again very soon!
