Bookbuzz at the Perse
19 Nov 2013
The English and Drama department have been participating in the Bookbuzz programme for the second consecutive year, which gives pupils in Year 7 the opportunity to choose their own book from a list of 17 titles specially selected by a panel of experts. These books reflect a diverse range of genres and reading interests.
The Bookbuzz programme is an initiative of Booktrust – an independent reading and writing charity – which supports schools in encouraging their pupils to read for pleasure, and by independent choice. The programme also assists schools in developing a ‘whole school reading culture’. Bookbuzz was launched in 2012, with over 1,400 schools taking part.
Mrs Leigh in the English Department kindly co-ordinated the project and the books have been handed out to pupils over the past couple of weeks. The most popular title by far was After Tomorrow by Gillian Cross.
Happy reading, Year 7!
