Junior ensembles concert
On Wednesday 9 October, over 130 pupils took part in the first large-scale concert of the academic year, a concert showcasing our junior ensembles. Pip Jackson (Year 8) started off the proceedings with a rapturous fanfare by Georg Böhm on the organ, after which Wind Band 2 delighted the audience with renditions of Soul Bossa Nova and Rolling in the Deep. Wind and string ensembles rubbed shoulders with the School’s junior jazz bands and guitar ensembles, while the samba band provided a celebratory send-off that filled the hall with Brazilian polyrhythms! A huge well done to all those taking part and thanks to those who came and supported; with some ensembles having only had three rehearsals this term, it was truly testament to Perse pupils’ ability to create excellent musical results in a relatively short space of time.
