GCSE gamelan trip

On Tuesday 1 October, our GCSE students repeated last year’s successful formula of a trip to Cambridge University’s Faculty of Music on West Road to play a gamelan (a traditional Indonesian orchestra of percussion instruments). As one of the more unfamiliar styles of music that constitute the GCSE syllabus, it was a fantastic opportunity for our students to get to grips with the construction of the music and its unique sound-world. Many thanks to Mrs Arthur and Ms Pledger for organising the outing, which seemed to be much enjoyed by all!
