Economics essay success
We are pleased to announce that Alex Jackson in the Upper Sixth has been named runner-up in the schools essay competition organised by the Institute of Economic Affairs. His entry was made prior to the summer holidays, though the results have only just been published. His essay answered the question “Do we have any explanations for the continuing problems of the euro and do they in turn suggest any ways of resolving them?”
There were over 200 entries to this competition and so this is a fantastic achievement.
Alex’s success adds to a highly successful essay-writing season. Our economists have achieved a top three finish in each of the three schools essay competitions in 2013.
- Royal Economic Society – Georgina Evans – 3rd place (Angus Rea and Eoin Sweeney highly commended).
- University of Cambridge’s Marshall Society – Christine Cheng – runner-up
- Institute of Economic Affairs – Alex Jackson– runner-up
