The Perse School

Physics at Work

Year 10 visited the Cavendish Laboratory to the Physics at Work Exhibition last week.  The pupils met people involved in cutting edge research and development and gained a sense of where an education in science could take them.  There was a total of 26 different presentations ranging from research Physics to the application of science in high-tech industry and engineering, and each group of pupils saw a selection of six of these.  Highlights included explosions from the Atomic Weapons Establishment, to forensic science in the military to levitating supermagnets.  This was a very interesting and thought-provoking day for all!
