Year 11 pupil Chris Pepper had the honour of being 12th man for England v Essex on Sunday, his skills having ‘bowled over’ the England cricket team on Saturday.
Chris and other Essex Academy players were asked to bowl against the full England team as practice for their Ashes warm up game v Essex at Chelmsford.
The student has had a great year, being part of the Essex Academy, representing the full Cambridgeshire side v Suffolk and the youngest player to have played for the minor county, and playing in the Essex 2nd XI v Surrey this week.
Other cricketers at The Perse also have recent successes to celebrate. The U12As won the Inter-Cricket county tournament at Parker’s Piece this week, beating Linton Village College in the final. The 1st XI beat Durham School in the Bromsgrove festival with Alex Jackson scoring 81 and Chris Pepper taking 3 wickets.
