Student art takes centre stage
11 Jun 2013
Students’ GCSE and A Level art adorns the walls of the Upper School art gallery at the moment, displayed for pupils and staff to enjoy contemplating. Parents were invited to a special evening opening.
The show demonstrates the huge range of media, styles and techniques employed by students including large scale sculptural textiles, finely crafted etchings and conceptual installations.
Art Teacher Caroline Dent explained “You will find no obvious house style at The Perse. Instead, there is a diverse range of work by pupils who are encouraged to take their own direction and are helped along the artistic journey through a process of rigorous experimentation and purposeful research. In essence we aim to teach creativity and visual literacy rather than styles of art”.
