Prep pupils go back to basics on weekend camping trip
28 May 2013
Prep pupils tested their outdoor skills on a Perse Exploration Society weekend ‘base camp’. From knot tying to peg carving, the trip was a great opportunity to put into practice the skills they had learnt in after-school sessions in the wilds of Wandlebury and Grantchester.
Their new-found knowledge of backwoods cooking came in particularly useful when building fires on which to cook their breakfast of bacon butties.
A highlight for many was sitting around the campfire (still blazing despite the rain), sipping delicious hot chocolate and singing some interesting campfire songs about giant caterpillars, going to heaven in a biscuit tin, and rowing in the Antarctic.
PES leader at The Prep Helen Dawkins said:
“It was fantastic to see all the pupils working well together and taking on more responsibility”.
