Half Marathon achievements for Perse staff
18 Perse staff completed the Cambridge Half Marathon this weekend, in some cases smashing personal bests despite the bitter weather.
Jared Bethall, Perse fitness instructor, was – perhaps unsurprisingly – the first team member over the line in 1:19:55, with Daniel Cross, Upper School Deputy Head, not far behind at 1:26:43. Physics Teacher Chris Ingram and the Communications Team’s very own Ralph Turner finished in 1:29:10 and 1:29:46 respectively.
Congratulations also to Perse student Hugh Chatfield who ran the race in an impressive 1:24:13.
The team raised more than £650 for Christel House, an education charity dedicated to helping children around the world break the cycle of poverty, realise their hopes and dreams, and become self-sufficient, contributing members of society. The Perse School has strong links with the charity’s South African and Indian learning centres. The Principal of Christel House Lavassa is currently visiting us and Perse teachers have made several trips to Christel House centres to share their experiences and learn lessons from the charity's excellent work.
The staff who ran the race were:
Jared Bethall; Daniel Cross; Chris Ingram; Ralph Turner; Mike Goodson; Laura Broderick; Gareth Roots; Matthew Jelley; Pippa Mitchell; Susannah Covey; Simon Ball; Ellie Herbert; Jamie Edwards; Holly Singleton; Peter Whitmell; Emma Cope; and Alison Pullen.
