Perse hockey teams through to regional rounds

20 Feb 2013

Despite heavy snow disrupting the start of the hockey season, Perse teams recovered well to qualify for the regional rounds in every age group of the boys' competition so far.

The U16 boys were crowned Cambridgeshire Champions beating Thomas Deacon Academy, Newport Grammar and The Leys to qualify for the East Pool stage.

The U18 boys finished runners-up to a strong Thomas Deacon Academy team in the Cambridgeshire rounds, beating The Leys 1-0 in the semi-final to qualify for the East Pool stage.

The U14 boys finished runners-up in the Cambridgeshire rounds losing narrowly in the final to The Leys, meaning they are also through to the East Pool stage.

The half term culminated in the local derby versus The Leys for all age groups, resulting in some really pleasing performances and Perse teams winning nine out of the 11 fixtures; the 1st XI winning 2-1, U16A 4-1, U15A 3-1, and U13A 3-1.

In the current half term the teams will compete in their respective regional rounds, and the U13s will also be looking to qualify from their County Championships.
