A sound performance by Perse musicians
Perse Upper School pupils achieved impressive musical successes in the Michaelmas term with two pupils being awarded prestigious scholarships and four more winning places in celebrated musical institutions.
Violinist Patrick Bevan has been awarded a National Children’s Orchestra Leverhulme Trust scholarship, one of only four awards made each year to outstanding musicians. Rebecca Stephenson has won an undergraduate scholarship to study at the Royal Northern College of Music next year. Jacob Oberholzer, Tim Greenbank and Anna Sutherland have all won places in the National Youth Choir while Natalie Martin has been offered a place in the main National Children’s Orchestra.
In addition, 64 Perse pupils passed an Associated Board exam within the School last term and around two thirds scored a merit or distinction, including five distinctions at Grade 8.
With all this musical talent around, peers and parents are in for a treat this term at more than 25 musical performances, in particular the School’s flagship annual concert at West Road in March.
