The Perse School

Netball County Champions!

12 Nov 2012

On Wednesday 7th November the Perse U16 VII won the County Netball Tournament, continuing our fantastic showing in girls sport in this our first year fully co-ed throughout the school.

The Perse were in a good position going into the tournament, having won the qualifying tournament in October. But their first game was tough, as they faced Kings Ely in a very close match which they eventually won 7-6. The Perse team were victorious in all of their pool matches, going on to also beat Cromwell and St Ivo.

In the semi-final they faced Cottenham. They provided spirited opposition but could not hold off the strong attacking of the Perse team. The final score was 4-2. The final was played again St Marys, who were athletic and quick around the court. However with excellent team defence, great attacking movements and some sharp shooting The Perse overcame their opponents. The final score was 9-3.

This was a great team performance by all members of the squad who had previously won this title at U14 level as well. They now qualify for the Regional tournament on Saturday 2nd February.
