Innovative Art Workshops
27 Nov 2012
The Art Department ran three creative workshops with Year 11 pupils in November. Each workshop was led by a professional artist who focuses on innovation within their specialist area.
Renowned artist and ex pupil, Matthew Lane Sanderson, taught Year 11 pupils how to create sculptural forms from iron and steel using wire. The workshop provided opportunities for pupils to experience a new 3D media and gain knowledge of the working practises of a professional artist.
During the print workshop at the Curwen Studios, Chilford Hall, students explored inventive mono-printing and etching techniques under the guidance of Sue Jones, local printmaker and illustrator.
Tim Marrs, graphic artist and contemporary illustrator, worked with Year 11 students combining drawing, photography, screen-print and digital techniques to create dynamic modern-day images.
There is an exhibition in the Art Department foyer that showcases work from the workshops.
