Hectic Half Term
Today sees the school once again filled with pupils, energy levels replenished by a half term break, and ready to get back into the hectic life of Michaelmas Term. This is not to say that half term was spent sitting on the sofa for many however – there were numerous exciting, educational (and in one case quite dramatic) trips involving students throughout the school.
A group of Year 10 French students were in Paris on a French exchange, with a further group spending time in Hamburg with their German counterparts. The annual battlefields trip took budding historians to experience the sombre mass graves and memorials of the Western Front. PES were busy braving the elements as usual – with the Ascent Group on their winter camp in Kent, and Summit 10 hiking through the Peak District.
It has been the English trip to New York that has commanded the most attention however. Having enjoyed the Big Apple’s cultural delights, the sixth formers then had to endure the wrath of Hurricane Sandy which closed the airports forcing an unscheduled long weekend in the States. We will (hopefully) be welcoming them all back to Blighty tomorrow.
More detailed accounts of all these trips will be up on the website in the coming days.
