Maths Challenge Success
18 Sep 2012
A team of Year 10 pupils enjoyed a very successful day at the finals of the FMSP Year 10 team competition, finishing in 3rd place from over 400 teams that entered.
The finals were held at the Centre for Mathematical Studies at the University of Cambridge, with the competitors first being treated to a guest lecture from Dr Paul Baxter from the University of Leeds about how statistics can relate to the real world entitled, ‘Are Large Datasets Bad for your Health?’
Once the competition began the Perse team of Daniel Jackson, Hamish MacGregor, Dilip Goyal & Chris Stone (all now year 11) tackled a series of fiendishly difficult maths problems to claim the third place prize.
