Best ever A level results at The Perse School
16 Aug 2012
The one hundred and fifty four students in the Perse Upper Sixth have achieved record breaking results in the 2012 A levels. Whilst nationally the percentage of top grades fell, The Perse bucked the trend with both the percentage of A* grades and the A*-A rate rising to beat previous school records.
Ninety eight per cent of exam entries were awarded at A*-C level, with 42% at A* and 80% at A*-A.
Twenty six students secured a clean sweep of three or more A* grades at A level, with three students each achieving five A* grades.
Ninety eight of our one hundred and fifty four students (nearly two thirds) achieved three A grades or above.
Head, Ed Elliott, commented "These outstanding results are the product of years of hard work, academic endeavour and excellent teaching. The grades achieved will allow the overwhelming majority of Perse students to proceed to their first choice universities.
We are particularly delighted to have secured so many A* grades, with 41% of Perse entries being awarded at the highest possible level. (Nationally 7.9% of A level entries were graded at A*.) In Maths, Physics, Technology, Greek, Latin, English Literature, Art and Music, more than 50% of grades awarded were A* (or Pre-U equivalent)."
