U15 boys’ cricket team secure place in the T20 South Regional Final
28 Jun 2012
On Tuesday 26th June, The Perse U15A boys' cricket team played Brentwood School in the semi-final of the South Region Twenty20 Competition. The Perse were asked to bat first and got off to a slow start following some good bowling by Brentwood. Pete Gordon then came in to bat and struck a rapid 46 runs in a reversal of our innings, aided by an end of innings cameo by Hugh Lawrence. The Perse posted a defendable 98.
Following a short break for tea, the match was resumed and after an expensive opening over, tight spells by Dilip Goyal, captain (4-0-1-9) and Michael Pepper (4-0-0-11) piled the pressure back on Bretwood. This excellent bowling was backed up by some more tight bowling by the spinners, leaving Brentwood needing 12 in the last over to win. Daniel Wright stepped up to the mark and produced a fabulous over, conceding only 8 runs and giving The Perse a victory by 3 runs.
The U15s will now play Dulwich College in the South Regional Final for a place in the National Finals on the 4th July.
