Junior General Knowledge Team Retains National Title

19 Jun 2012

The Junior General Knowledge Team has won the Junior Schools' Challenge Final for the second year in succession. This competition is based on University Challenge and tests contestants' depth of knowledge and speed on the buzzer.

Having won the East Anglian title and then knocked out Dulwich prep in the inter-regional round, the team travelled to the National Finals at Hereford Cathedral School to meet other winners from all over the UK.

The team defeated Hymers College, Hull by 1150 points to 330 and then Port Regis School, Shaftesbury by 700 points to 540. This led into the final against The Dragon School, Oxford. A closely fought match saw the lead change hands several times until the last five minutes when The Perse pulled away to win by 690 points to 540.

Congratulations go to the team of Year 8 pupils Pratap Singh (captain), Alex Griffiths and Franklin Nelson, and Year 7 pupils Oliver Brigstocke and Henry Proudfoot.
