Ancient History: GCSE Study Day
14 May 2012
In advance of Ancient History being introduced to the GCSE options curriculum from September, a group of dedicated Year 10 pupils have been studying the subject off-timetable. They have followed the GCSE course this year, producing some fascinating controlled assessment essays on topics as wide-ranging as Mycenaean weaponry to the expansion of Persia and the influence of ancient Egypt in the Mediterranean.
As part of their final preparations for an examined module on Alexander the Great, the nine pupils gave up a Sunday to attend a day of special presentations leading up to an afternoon visit to The Fitzwilliam Museum's Gallery of Antiquities, where they were able to contextualise and visualise the artefacts that are set sources for the topic.
