Adventure Racing Club Soldiers Challenge
23 May 2012
On Saturday 19th May twenty Perse pupils and seven staff from the Adventure Racing Club took part in the Soldiers Challenge in London. The sport is growing in popularity with the seven teams from The Perse forming our largest cohort to date. The four hour event challenged teams to reach checkpoints spread out all over London, gathering as many points as possible. Checkpoints ranged from simple electronic tag dibbers to full scale activity challenges. Pupils had the chance to abseil off the Oval stadium, take on an assault course in the moat surrounding the Tower of London, complete physical challenges in Hyde Park and paintball in the old Eurostar terminal at Waterloo.
Great determination and endurance was shown by all with some groups covering over 20 kilometres during the event! Special mention goes to Miss Pearson, Beth Barker and Rachael Harrison who came 4th in their category (Female team of 3) and to Mr Coney, Oliver Goldberg, John Broadbent and Leo Bridger who came 7th in theirs (Male team of 4). The Adventure Club will be going on to take part in the Rat Race next October.
