Adventure Racing Club Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge
This Easter, The Perse School Adventure Racing Club travelled to the Yorkshire Dales to tackle the 3 Peaks Challenge. The '3 Peaks' is a nationally recognized mountain challenge covering 40km of tough mountainous terrain and takes in 1600m of vertical elevation. This classic mountain circuit ascends the summits of Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough and covers a distance just short of a marathon. Six Year 10 pupils completed the challenge despite the harsh weather conditions with Oli Cantrill, Sid Bullmore and Oliver Goldberg setting the quickest time of the day at 8 hours and 3 minutes. The Year 7 team of Elizabeth Townsend, Claudia Rae and William Coleman showed great tenacity and endurance for their age, completing the junior challenge of 2 peaks over a 22km course.
