The Upper recently hosted pupils and staff from Mukonoso Comprehensive High School in Hyogo Ken, Japan.
To celebrate their arrival Edward Elliott, Head, welcomed the Japanese guests and their English home-stay partners with a mince pie party. In total nine students between ages 16 to 18 and two teachers visited from Japan and The Perse was given a hand-made wooden clock dragon (as 2012 is according to the Chinese horoscope the year of the dragon).
Our Japanese visitors enjoyed a visit to Trinity College and a meeting with the Mayor of Cambridge, Nimmo Smith, who presented them with a wooden crest.
They toured Bury St Edmunds and the Greene King Brewery and enjoyed a day trip to London including the musical ‘Phantom of the Opera’.
A big thank you to all the English home-stay families involved who did their part to ensure our Japanese guests had a wonderful experience. Our students are looking forward to their Japan trip in April 2012.
