Year 3 Poetry
7 Nov 2011
Just before half term, Year 3 completed some work on poetry in their English lessons.
Before the children started writing, they read and discussed a counting poem called ‘One Smiling Grandma’, noticing how the poet had made effective use of rhythm, rhyme, alliteration, interesting adjectives and changes in pace.
The children then had a go at drafting counting poems of their own. 3 Alpha wrote about animals, 3 Aleph wrote about sports and 3A wrote about The Perse Prep School.
The Year 3 teachers found it difficult to choose which poems to include in our special Assembly where the children below read their poetry with loud voices!!
All of the other poetry is on display in the Year 3 classrooms.
