The Perse School wins the 2011 Small Ships Race
5 Oct 2011
In bright sunshine and good winds the students battled against 26 other sail training vessels for the prestigious Aurora Trophy.
Annabel-J and Pegasus achieved creditable third and seventh places respectively on handicap having crossed the line third & fourth.
The real battle, however, took place between Duet and the famous pilot cutter Jolie Brise, three times winner of the Fastnet Race sailed by Dauntsey’s School. Duet pushed Jolie Brise all the way losing by only 8 minutes on the line but winning the trophy on handicap by 5 minutes. The skippers were delighted by the efforts of our crews and we look forward to defending the trophy next October in what will be Duet’s centenary year.
